I did it! I am now a Giant Squid!

Well I did it!  I got notified that I am now a Giant Squid!  Woo-hoo!  I got the notice Tuesday evening and immediately did a happy dance :)

I also was awarded my first ever purple star for my Geocaching with Kids lens.  I was quite excited, let me tell you.

Now that I have made Giant Squid, my journey is far from over.  Here are my future goals for Squidoo.

  • I want to make the next Giant Squid Level.  I can apply when I have made 50 lenses.
  • I want to be a Squid Angel.  I have sent in my application.
  • I want to get lens of the day.
  • I would love to get my first $100 paycheck from Squidoo.  I am averaging between $40 and $50 a month.  I am going to be focusing more on longtail keywords and sales lenses with my next 25.
I will continue to update here as I post new lenses and reach my goals.

Happy Squidooing!

I Finally Did It! 25 Squidoo Lenses!

Another new lens on Knit Nativity Patterns and a bright and shiny new trophy for writing 25 lenses.  What a nice feeling to finally hit that goal!

So tomorrow I edit and freshen up all of my lenses in anticipation of filling out the Giant Squid application.  Can't wait to hear whether or not I get accepted.  Wish me luck!

Happy Squidooing!

I'm No Scrooge! A New Squidoo Trophy!

Just received notice that I have earned a new trophy and 300 points on Squidoo.  This was for participating in the Epic Elf Celebrate Quest where you had to create 5 new Gift Guides for the Celebrate magazine.

My lenses I created for the quest were

I definitely had fun participating in the challenge and hope to do more in the future

Just One More To Go!

With the publishing of my newest lens this morning, Healthier Donations for Food Pantries, I am down to needing to write just one more lens to be able to apply for Giant Squid status.  I am so excited!  I hope to be done with that one today or tomorrow so I can start work on updating all my other lenses and making sure they are all in good shape before I submit my application.

As a side note, Squidoo payday was yesterday.  It's nice to earn on things I wrote years ago.

Happy Squidooing!

Crocheted Nativity Lens

Well I can check lens #23 off my list.  Just 2 more to go now!  My latest lens was inspired by a handmade Nativity set my great-grandmother made me when I was little.  Horribly messy child that I was, I lost all the pieces. Oh how I regret that now!  I would give anything to have it back.  So my latest lens features a selection of crochet nativity patterns.

And That's a Wrap! Epic Celebrate Elf Quest Completed!

Phew!  Just finished up my last lens for the epic Celebrate Elf Quest over at Squidoo.  It's a nice feeling to be done.  My last one is once again about something I know well - Top Holiday Gifts for American Girl Doll Collectors.   Doing research for the lens, I had fun looking through the great selection of doll furniture and accessories on Amazon.  I found several pieces I want to add to my Christmas wish list!

So that puts me up 22 lenses for my Giant Squid tally.  Just 3 more to go!

My Lensography and a New Trophy

As I was reading through the Giant Squid application in anticipation of finishing up the few lenses, I discovered I need an About Me lens.  So without further ado, here is my Get to Know Scraps2Treasures lens.  And for my efforts, I was rewarded with a new trophy.   Yeah!  4 More to Go until I can apply to be a Giant Squid!

A New Stocking Stuffer Lens

My latest lens is Stocking Stuffers for Gardeners.  I really enjoyed putting it together as many of the items are ones that I own or have on my wish list. 4 down, 1 to go in the Celebrate Quest!  Woo-Hoo!  The end is in sight.  I hope to finish the last lens tonight as I have already started it.

After I hit publish on the stocking stuffers lens, I got a little bit of a surprise.  I definitively know now that I am at 20 lenses that count towards applying for Giant Squid status.  I should definitely hit 25 before the end of the year unless something comes up to distract me from my goal.  Quite exciting!

Well that's all for now.  Happy Squidooing!

A New Squidoo Holiday Gift Guide Lens for Geocachers

Hot off the presses!  I just published my new Stocking Stuffers for Geocachers lens.  Since I am a geocacher myself, I had a lot of fun putting together this lens together. Lots of fun gift ideas for that special geocacher on your shopping list.

I am on a roll lately.  I think this is 5 new lenses in the past week for me.  This lens makes number three for me in the Epic Celebrate Elf Quest, which challenges Squidooers to create 5 new holiday gift guide lenses to be included in the Celebrate Squidoo magazine.  So just 2 more to go and I can finish up the quest to receive 300 SquidPoints and the You're No Scrooge Elf trophy.

Colossal SquidLiking Trophy

Just this morning, I earned another trophy - the Colossal Squidliking Trophy.  You can earn the Colossal SquidLiking Trophy for squidliking 500 lenses.

So exciting!  This makes my 33rd Squidoo trophy.  I know they don't really mean much in the grand scheme of things, but it is still great fun to earn new ones.  Not as much as getting a new sale, but still...

A New Plastic Canvas Lens

I always think it is a good idea to write about what you know.  I know that having lots of sales lenses is the way to go when you want to make more money on Squidoo but I have a hard time getting motivated to write about things that aren't meaningful to me.  So that's why I write about crafts a lot.

My latest lens is talking about patterns to make a Plastic Canvas Dollhouse.  I actually own the pattern  pictured here.  It's a mammoth of a book at around 200 pages.  I don't know if I will ever get around to making it before I am retired :)

My work yesterday paid off!  My Geocaching With Kids lens is back in the green.  So today I am going to tweak it a bit, now that it is actually getting some traffic.

Other than that, I found some new Digg-Style Social media sites to promote my lenses so I am trying those out.  I may have to do a separate post linking to those for my reference.  I also came up with a printable list that I like to do after my lens gets green-lighted to help out with its lens rank.

Well that's all for now.

Happy Squidooing!

2 New Trophies and a New Lens Today

I got a nice surprise today - not one, but 2 new trophies from Squidoo.  They bring my total to 32!

I also finished up a new lens today - Smores Christmas Ornaments.  I just love those fun little figurines.  Since I collect them myself, the lens was so much fun to put together.

I also updated my Geocaching with Kids lens.  I can not for the life of me figure out why it is still showing up as a work in progress.  I built a couple of backlinks to it today.  If that doesn't work, I am going to go in and overhaul it to see if that helps.  I could definitely use that lens to help bring my total to 25.

Other than that, I am working on the Epic Celebrate Elf Quest.  I now have 2 holiday gift guide lenses for the Celebrate magazine and have plans for the other three needed to earn the trophy.  I can't wait to earn that cute little elf trophy!

After that Quest is finished, I am going to do a Thanksgiving pie lens to earn the Thanksgiving Dude trophy.  I hope to have all that finished up by the end of this coming week.  Does anyone else just love earning trophies like I do?

Happy Squidooing!

Lens #25 (but not really)

I just published my 25th lens to Squidoo - a gift guide lens about the Nutrimill grain mill.  Unfortunately it doesn't count for Giant Squid Status since about 5 of those lenses were published under another username.  (Back when I thought it was a good idea to have a different Squidoo account for every niche.)  So I need to wait until I get that 25th lens trophy to know for certain I can apply to be a Giant Squid.  It won't be too long if I keep writing daily.

Anyway, my latest lens was created in response to a RocketSquids quest.  We were supposed to create a point of view gift guide for the Celebrate magazine.  So I chose to create one on the Nutrimill grain mill since that is a product I own and love.

I had the worst time getting pictures for this one.  I didn't just want to use Amazon stock photos but every picture I took ended up blurry when Squidoo made it smaller.  UGH!  I finally ended up lugging the mill outside and getting a shot out there.  Still not the best photo for my intro paragraph, but I tried :)
